Deuteronomy
34 chapters · 959 verses · Moses · ~1400 BC
Moses is 120 years old. He will not cross the Jordan. These are his last words to the children of the people he led for 40 years — and he pours everything he has into them.
Overview
Deuteronomy is Moses' farewell sermon — part love letter, part warning, part covenant renewal. He retells the story, restates the law, and begs the next generation not to make their parents' mistakes. The Shema ("Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one") comes from here. Jesus quoted this book more than almost any other.
