Esther

10 chapters · 167 verses · Unknown · ~460 BC

God's name never appears in this book. Not once. Yet His fingerprints are on every page — orchestrating a beauty queen, a sleepless night, and a gallows into the rescue of an entire people.

Overview

Esther reads like a political thriller. A Jewish orphan becomes queen of Persia. A genocidal decree threatens her people. Her cousin Mordecai tells her: "Who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?" The reversal is complete — the gallows built for Mordecai become the instrument of the villain's own death.
