Colossians

4 chapters · 95 verses · Paul · ~60 AD

False teachers say Jesus isn't enough — you need secret knowledge, angel worship, special rules. Paul's response: Christ is the image of the invisible God. Period. Nothing else needed.

Overview

Colossians is Paul's response to spiritual syncretism. The Colossian church was mixing faith in Christ with philosophy, mysticism, and rule-keeping. Paul's antidote: see how big Christ actually is. The Christ hymn (1:15-20) declares Jesus supreme over all creation, all powers, and all things. If He is everything, you don't need anything else.
