About this chapter
Judges 18 — Period of the Judges
Unknown, possibly Samuel — Compiler of Israel's history during the chaotic period of the judges. Set in Dan's territory, Micah's house, and Laish. The tribe of Dan is homeless and desperate, so they send spies to find new territory. The spies discover Micah's fake shrine and steal his idols, priest, and religious equipment at sword-point. They then march north and massacre the peaceful, unsuspecting city of Laish, rename it Dan, and set up their stolen idol worship as the official religion. Violence and idolatry spread like a virus through a nation that has forgotten God's ways.
