Malachi
4 chapters · 55 verses · Malachi · ~430 BC
The last voice before 400 years of silence. God's final message before the prophets go quiet: "I have loved you — but you've grown cold. A messenger is coming."
Overview
Malachi is a heated dialogue between God and a people who've become spiritually lazy. They offer blemished sacrifices, divorce their wives for younger women, and withhold tithes — then wonder why God feels distant. The book closes with the promise of Elijah's return, fulfilled in John the Baptist. After Malachi, God is silent for four centuries.
