Matthew
28 chapters · 1,071 verses · Matthew (tax collector turned disciple) · ~60 AD
Written by a man Rome despised and his own people hated, Matthew makes one explosive case: the carpenter from Nazareth is the King the prophets promised — and he can prove it.
Overview
Matthew builds a legal case for Jesus as the Messiah. Every chapter echoes the Old Testament — genealogy from Abraham, born in Bethlehem (Micah), fled to Egypt (Hosea), a voice in the wilderness (Isaiah). The Sermon on the Mount, the parables of the kingdom, and the Great Commission all appear only or most fully in Matthew.
