Nehemiah
13 chapters · 406 verses · Nehemiah · ~445 BC
A cupbearer to a Persian king hears that Jerusalem's walls are rubble — and asks for permission to go fix it himself. In 52 days, against fierce opposition, he does.
Overview
Nehemiah is the Bible's greatest leadership manual. A layman with no religious credentials mobilizes a broken community, faces threats and ridicule, rebuilds physical walls in 52 days, then leads spiritual renewal. His blend of prayer and action ("We prayed to our God and posted a guard") defines practical faith.
