About this chapter
Romans 4 — Early Church Expansion
Paul — Apostle to the Gentiles, writing from Corinth. Set in Written in Corinth, addressed to Rome. Paul calls his star witness to the stand—Abraham, the revered father of the Jewish nation. In a brilliant legal argument, he shows that Abraham was declared righteous by faith before he was circumcised, before the law was given, while he was still a Gentile. This 100-year-old man believed God's impossible promise of a son, and God credited it to him as righteousness. Paul's case is airtight: salvation has always been by faith alone, not religious performance.
“Romans 4:16”— 4:16
Read when: Read this when you're struggling to believe that God accepts you by faith alone, not by your religious performance.
