Psalms

150 chapters · 2,461 verses · David, Asaph, Korah, and others · ~1000–400 BC

Every human emotion — rage, ecstasy, despair, gratitude, loneliness, awe — poured out to God without filter. This is what it sounds like when humans are brutally honest with their Creator.

Overview

The Psalms are the Bible's prayer book and songbook. 150 poems spanning 600 years, written by kings and orphans, in palaces and caves. They give us permission to bring everything to God — not just polished worship, but raw fury, crushing doubt, and desperate midnight pleas. Jesus quoted the Psalms more than any other book.
